Why only the Disabled?

We hardly ever realise that disabled persons embrace the affliction that could have come our way. Yet, they are derided and through social, physical and attitudinal barriers they are denied accessibility and an environment in which to sustain as productive members of our society.   By all this, we harm their self-esteem making them believe that they are nothing but a burden on earth.

With only darkness in sight, disabled persons languish in misery and pain as poorest of the poor. For their integration into the society there is inarguably the need of effective third-party intervention.

Spiritual

“Of what small spots pure white complains.” (John Donne).   Random imperfection is integral to life. When it strikes a person, the Almighty, in His own wisdom, selects individuals and society crowning upon them the godly undertaking of providing sustenance. Mature societies fulfil this responsibility as a part of social obligation. For us at Labard this also means a divine endowment.

It is in this spirit that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry sponsored us as an independent non-profit non-governmental organisation providing the needed intervention through a range of our completely free rehabilitative services (see page).  

Our focus

We believe that employment provides livelihood leading to total rehabilitation; the reason why we focus on procuring jobs for the disabled.

To enable disabled persons to undertake their workplace responsibilities efficiently, we also offer a host of preparatory programmes. Our objective is that the disabled should sustain in jobs purely on the strength of competence rather than compassion.
